Rest of the process is simple as you are only required to check the balance of the account to which the funds transferred. Things get complicated if the money is sent to someone else’s account or when you are receiving a wire transfer from someone else.

Information you need to provide is your account number, recipient’s bank name, routing number, account number and name of the account holder to whom you want to send money to. You may be asked to provide a SWIFT code especially in case of international wire transfer.

To know if your wire transfer arrived, you can check your bank account online. You can also know by simply making a balance inquiry at any local ATM. If you find that the amount has been deducted from your account, it means the funds have been transferred successfully to the recipient’s account.

You should know that in U.S. the wire transfer may take a week to arrive. You better contact the receiver of the funds to make sure the wire transfer arrived.

You need to find that if your bank debited money from your account or deposited money into your account. If your friend wired money into your account but you didn’t receive the money, you better contact your friend and ask him to trace the transaction with the help of his bank.
